Our DNB training program in OBG commenced in January 2008, initially offering 2 seats and later expanding to accommodate 4 candidates in 2012. Our OBG department takes pride in its state-of-the-art infrastructure, designed to provide top-quality care and education. We have a modern labour room and well-equipped operation theatres that facilitate a wide range of procedures, including hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries. A dedicated day surgery unit is available for minor surgeries, and our office procedures, including colposcopy, are performed with precision. We also offer access to advanced technologies and equipment that empower our residents to excel in their training.
At ASTER MIMS, we are committed to nurturing the academic growth of our DNB candidates in OBG. Our educational programs include regular clinical classes, seminars, and hands-on training in various gynaecological and obstetric procedures. We host weekly journal clubs, lecture classes, and clinical club sessions in collaboration with other departments, providing a holistic learning experience. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through different specialties, gaining exposure to high-risk pregnancies, surgeries, and OBG emergencies. Additionally, we offer a dedicated skill lab for hands-on training in laparoscopic techniques, preparing our candidates for real-world scenarios.
Our well-equipped library grants access to an extensive collection of standard textbooks, national and international journals, and e-books, ensuring our residents have the resources they need for academic excellence. Regular monthly theory examinations instill confidence in our students, preparing them for their assessments.
With a commendable 100% pass rate in the DNB program, our department has a track record of excellence. Our candidates have actively participated in conferences, quiz programs, and paper presentations, showcasing their knowledge and expertise. I consider myself very fortunate to have completed my PG from two outstanding medical institutions in the country..After completing DGO from Govt Medical College Calicut, I chose Aster MIMS Calicut as my DNB institute based on a dream to learn from some of the legends in the field of O&G . The O&G department of Aster MIMS precisely meets the international standard in Mother and Child Health care and I am very proud to have worked there under the Guidance of Rasheeda Madam, Nazer sir and other faculties. The working atmosphere was very friendly and helping right from Head of the department to our immediate seniors. The hospital management was also very keen towards the needs of DNB students. What do I say about academics and hands on training?...Let's put this way, 90 % of the students from our department have passed the tough DNB final exams at first chance and some of us are managing the department individually at various other hospital in the state. My sincere gratitude to the Professors and teachers for the knowledge and blessings showered on us.
